Melissa Windham is a highly recognized and much sought-after doll artist. She creates fabulous one-of-a-kind fashion dolls for discriminating collectors worldwide, and has always loved fashion dolls. Even as a child, she customized them. "I always changed their hairstyles, glamorized their make-up and made new wardrobes for them," she laughs. "I was never satisfied!" No surprise then that as an adult, she began customizing dolls for other collectors.
Melissa's artistic eye and passion for detail is reflected in the beautiful faces she paints, the sophisticated hairstyles she creates and the couturier fashions she designs for each doll. She is perhaps best known for creating one-of-a-kind dolls for charity auctions that have brought in record-setting gavel prices.
Melissa is also very well known for her vintage Barbie & friends restoration expertise. Since 1990, she's been a favorite restoration expert for collectors and dealers alike.
Melissa is very happy to be one of the designers, as well as the lead face paint artist at Horsman, the country's oldest doll manufacturer. She has painted most of the prototype faces for Vita and all of the faces for Zhonti, the newest additions to the Horsman doll line. "It is such an honor to be chosen by Design Director, Dorinda Balanecki, to paint such lovely dolls for Horsman, " she says, adding, "I've also designed the face paint and the fashion for Inferno Vita and Elegance Rini, and I can't wait to design more!"
Make your Barbie dolls look as lovely as the day they left the factory ! Gorgeous restoration of hairstyles, make-up, lashes and face color. *Nationally recognized restoration expert. *Restorer of choice by world renowned dealers. *Every doll personally and lovingly cared for.
Making over dolls is really quite similar to the work that I do with people. The big difference is that the doll face is tinier and I have more control over the features. On Barbie doll I can remake the shape and color of the eyeballs to get exactly what I want. The determination and dedication to creating the best is very important to me. I spare no expense on the dolls. I use real gemstones for the doll jewelry or to weave into a special hairstyle. I create hosiery, purses and hats to scale and even paint the shoes in order to compliment an ensemble. I get great pleasure in coordinating all the details and I love what I do and want it to be just right !
